A CHRISTENING 
Friday 18 February saw the christening of Ayana Angele Fleming Espinosa, at the church in Santa Maria II. Ayana is the youngest daughter of Irene Espinosa and Drew Fleming; and sister to Andeyne and Iman. Drew is well known around Balibago for his maps of Fields Avenue, (from MacArthur Highway to Friendship Highway), Hensonville and Diamond, which help us avoid being in places we shouldn’t be. Drew also designs and maintains web sites.
After the church ceremony, which was blessedly brief but none-the-less perplexing for those of us unfamiliar with the etiquette of the Catholic Church, the parents and godparents, (along with a few hangers-on), ‘wet the baby’s head’ in a more secular fashion at the Garden Dine Restaurant.

I wonder what it would be like to be three months old early in 2011 and to discover what the next 50 years has in store. Somewhere between exciting and scary as hell seems about right.
